Waith and Wrack
Salt Crystal Negatives
Waith and Wrack (Flotsam and Jetsam in Scots) is an ongoing project utilising the unique physical characteristics of film photography. The resulting images are immersed in seawater from the shoot location and carefully dried, leaving salt crystals on the film's surface. Each image is then painstakingly scanned and adjusted.
This technique was invented by myself at University, and this project seeks to perfect this process by showing off Scotland's spectacular coastline.
